Create A Comic Competition 2026 Finalists + Winner

Our Create A Comic Competition 2026 is closed, and just like in previous years, we have received a huge number of entries from children all across the country. To make the process of picking a winner easier, we narrowed the entries down to a shortlist of seven as finalists. We then had the BookLife Publishing team (many of whom have contributed to published comics themselves) vote on the comic strips to decide the winner.

Before we share who won the competition, let's take a quick look at the seven amazing comic strips that made it to the final...

The Dragon by Zoia, age 7.

We're big fans of this colourful comic strip for its theme around not judging someone because they are different from you.

Kaiju Cheese by Harriet age 8.

An evil block of cheese on a rampage!? We loved the silly nature and originality of the 'cheese kaiju' in this comic strip.

Pirate Ship by Monty, age 11.

We particularly like the manga-esque art style and the illustrator's effective use of space to depict the attack on the ship.

Posh Worms by Ruby, age 9.

We loved this comic strip by Ruby. It's charming, the frogs are cute and silly, and it's surprisingly humorous.

Animal Man by Harriet, age 7.

We enjoyed the tragic tale and origin of an original character, Animal Man, a superhero with animal powers who met a rather swift and untimely demise.

A Living Cake by Violet, age 11.

We loved this cute comic strip showing the making of a cake with ingredients that appear to be alive. Thankfully, it seems no food was hurt in the process, as the cake looked quite happy at the end!

The Tales of Not-So-Superman by Eleanor, age 9.

We've seen plenty of what if Superman were evil in media. But not necessarily, what if Superman couldn't be bothered to save anyone? We particularly liked the humour of this strip.

So, now that we've seen the finalists, it's time to share who won the Create A Comic Competition 2026 and is taking home the prize and winning books for their school.

Congratulations to Ruby, who is the winner of the Create A Comic Competition 2026! They have bagged themself copies of the brand-new series by BookLife Publishing, The Squad, a collection of graphic novels, and an extra £250 worth of BookLife Publishing books for their school.

Thank you to everyone who entered this year's competition. We thoroughly enjoyed going through every single comic strip.

This year's Create A Comic Strip Competition has coincided with BookLife Publishing's upcoming launch of Hybrid Readers, which includes The Squad. Hybrid Readers combine prose text and graphic novel storytelling for a hybrid reading experience to support reluctant readers.
