November is Non-Fiction November, and we're celebrating in the best way we know: with books. Throughout November, buy any two qualifying Non-Fiction packs from BookLife and get one of them completely free.
Whether you're restocking a classroom library, planning next term's topics or building a bookshelf at home, there's never been a better time to fill it with fact-packed reads.
Why non-fiction matters
Non-fiction is one of the things children most often choose to read. In the National Literacy Trust's 2026 Annual Literacy Survey, 52.8% of 8 to 18-year-olds said they read non-fiction. Only song lyrics (70.4%) and fiction (65.0%) were more popular, and non-fiction ranked third for boys and girls alike.
It's good for wellbeing too. The Trust's 2022 research into non-fiction reading found that children who read non-fiction in their free time were almost twice as likely to read to relax as those who didn't (62.0% vs 33.4%). They were also twice as likely to say reading makes them feel better (53.2% vs 26.0%).
Non-fiction readers are more engaged with the world around them, too. In the same study, 68.7% said taking care of the environment was important to them, compared with 48.6% of children who didn't read non-fiction. They were also more than twice as likely to read to learn about causes they care about (34.3% vs 14.6%).
Non-fiction can also be what makes reading click for reluctant readers. Writing for the Teachers' Reading Challenge, DK's Georgina Dee notes that children who feel "intimidated by the reams of text" in a novel can be won over by short blocks of text and visual layouts that let them read at their own level. Non-fiction also builds skills children use across the curriculum, such as finding information, reading diagrams and understanding how texts are organised.
What's in the range
Our Non-Fiction range is built for the classroom and just as at home on the bookshelf. The offer covers qualifying packs across several areas, which include:
Book Band packs
Each pack is matched to a Book Band reading level, so every child can read at the right level of challenge. They're ideal for guided reading, independent reading and sending books home.
Accelerated Reader packs
If your school uses Accelerated Reader, these packs make it easy to add quizzable non-fiction titles to your library and keep pupils' reading on track.
Topic-based packs
Linked to the Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 curriculum, our topic packs bring subjects such as science, history and geography to life. They're a simple way to resource a new unit or refresh a class book corner.
Mystery Boxes
Our non-fiction mystery boxes, which are already amazing value, ordinarily offering bundles of books for £1 each, are also in the promotion. You can get either 25 or 50 books in a box for either Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2 and get your second box for free.
How the offer works
It couldn't be simpler:
